Geranium Clean!

By: Andrea

Hey guys! In my latest order from Vitacost I picked out two products that I am totally obsessed with!  Mrs Meyer's Clean Day offeres an entire line of nice biodegradable, cruelty-free, earth-friendly cleaning supplies that smell fantastic (all made with essential oils)! I picked Geranium (one of my favourite scents), and opted to go for the liquid hand soap and countertop spray. In the past I have also used Meyer's basil-
scented soap and their lavender countertop spray. One of the best things about these products is that they leave behind a lovely lingering scent, which keeps your kitchen and/or bathroom smelling fresh and clean without having to use harsh air freshener sprays (yuck).
On general note, I did notice that the spray (which is advertised as being more powerful than their all-purpose cleaner) isn't the best when it comes to tackling the tough grease. That being said, it is still a great product to use to freshen up counters, sinks, and bathtubs! Do any of you use this product? Would love to hear your thoughts :)

EYELASH EXTENSIONS! Hollywood’s and the 21st Century’s Hidden Beauty Secret

By: Vanessa

You might notice now a days people are walking around with beautiful HUGE lashes or celebs you see, like Kim Kardashion and such have beautiful, Lushish BIG full lashes. WELL ladies, if you haven’t heard.. you can get eyelash extensions on your lashes. Eyelash extensions last anywhere from 1 month – 3months depending on the application process, and how well you take care of them! Now, I
already had long lashes but not having to worry about doing my lashes for weeks on end is pretty awesome and was the reason I wanted to try it out! You can also pick your length. My natural lash was size 12 so I went with size 13 which was the longest you could go at the place I went too lol. Sound amazing?! Well yes, they kind of are..but there are downsides for sure. Constant use can cause your lashes to become weak and brittle so it has to be done in moderation!  Now I’ve had eyelash extensions several times now and I’d say they are amazing but I would not recommend doing them more than twice a year, obviously people do as it becomes very addicting but I wouldn’t. The first time I tried it was right before filming “My Babysitter’s a Vampire” season 2. It was great and lasted 3 months! Me personally I won't do it more than once a year. I’d recommend it for special occasions only..Hence why I did it for filming, and I recently did them for my recent trip to Cuba. It is great for trips as I find when you have eyelash extensions you do not have to wear any makeup at all! You wakeup looking all done up and ready to go! And a plus side is when you go for swims, no mascara leakage! So you always stay looking purdy;) Yes ladies that is right, you can swim with them and everything! And still come out of the water looking perfect. Now if you are considering eyelash extensions for a special occasion I would also consider your options for the AFTERCARE. This is actually how I became obsessed with trying to grow my lashes. After noticing my eyelashes were weak after the eyelash extensions I started doing major research on how to start nourishing and grow a more luscious lash. It is by doing this how I discovered some great lash enhancing options....which I will discuss a lil later. But with that said I would say in your ending stages of your eyelash extensions I would start nourishing them so that they instantly start to rejuvenate themselves to an even healthier lash, after I did this mine grew longer than ever! FAQ: Is it Painful? NO- How does it work?- They glue the lash extension to your own lash with a permanent glue that falls off with your own natural lash cycle. -Mascara? Nope, not needed. Cost? anywhere from $50-350 - MAKE SURE YOU GO TO SOMEONE VERY EXPERIENCED..DO YOUR RESEARCH..You do not want someone messing up your natural lash :)

Not Good With Mascara? Have short Lashes? Want Long Lashes Fast for an event!?

Here's Your Quickest & Most Natural Looking Option!

I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE these. My fave length is "long". I love adding a couple to the ends of my lashes for a more dramatic look for an event- gives that "doe-eyed" look. They are also great for days when your lashes are just acting up and you need a couple pieces to fill in so that your lashes look fuller and more put together. I love these individual lashes as they are very natrual looking, apply on lash line with your natural lash. These are way more natural looking than strip..and last longer! Remember, practice makes perfect! You can purchase at your local CVS or Shoppers Drugmart.

Vanessa’s Tricks to Having Luscious Lashes

By: Vanessa

For those of you who don’t already know, I have a major eyelash obsession. I’ve done several magazine interviews on this subject as well! Makeup artists on set have constantly asked me how I get my lashes so big and always ask for my technique, so I think

it’s about time you here it from me directly! There is just something about big, luscious lashes on girls that just scream femininity. Having Long, thick, lashes always complete a makeup look. It’s flirty, beautiful and is defiantly a flattering feature on all women! I have done hours and hours of research and experimenting on what natural remedies promote eyelash growth. I have also tried the non-organic approach such as eyelash growth serums, enhancers, and eyelash extensions! I’ve tried everything really! SO I'll cover all of them. Also I love trying new mascaras and tricks to try and get that big, fake lash (but still natural) look! Just so I can fully call myself an eyelash expert;) SO BELOW are all my sneaky tips and beauty secrets I’ve learned through the years on set and through research, on how to get great, luscious lashes…Whether you want to do it the organic way or not, there are lots of options for all ya’ll eyelash loving guru’s out there like myself.

Okay Let’s first get started with MASCARAS!

Above is a photo of my friend Evelyn’s lashes. In this photo I did her mascara using my special technique (using telescopic mascara and Divaderm Eyelash Fibers.) I will upload a photo where she did her own lashes, just to show you guys the BIG difference simple changes can make!

NOW Here are Vanessa’s Picks & Tricks

Mascara & Eyelash fibers!

(My lashes with mascara)

I’ve tried lots of different Mascaras and Us HER COCONUT girl’s def have our favorites! My fav mascaras so far from the OH SO MANY I’ve tried are L’Oreal’s TELESCOPIC in blackest black, DIVADERM’S EYELASH FIBERS as well as Maybelline’s Illegal Length Fiber Extensions Mascara! Now I’m famous for getting ready for a night out with my girl friends and them always asking for me to do their eyes as I’ve really mastered techniques with applying mascara that really get lashes as long as possible, which is quite frankly what we coconut girls want RIGHT!? ;) Now lets begin…

Step 1: I always start my mascara regime by first stroking my lashes downwards with my telescopic mascara brush. The application brush is plastic, which if your not used to, could take a while... but it is way better for reducing clumps and making sure you get every individual lash! I usually stroke downwards quite a bit… I know…your probably wondering… why stroke downwards? Well think about this… it doesn’t make ANY séance to only stroke one side of your lashes if you want them as full, long and thick as possible!

Step 2: Stroke lashes with telescopic brush upwards several times or as much as you want until you have achieved the look you like.

Step 3: THEN while lashes are still wet take your divaderm eyelash fibers and stroke a couple times downwards and several times upwards.

STEP 4: Now take the telescopic mascara again and coat lashes downwards and upwards once more to complete look!...You can also rotate between telescopic and Maybelline Illegal Length to get an even more dramatic look, OR just choose the one you like the most. Most actors on set use a combination of TWO mascaras as they often find combining the two different brushes and formula get lashes thicker and even longer looking. I’d say so combining all three is probably your best bet to achieve that big fake look! Now if you have extra straight lashes unlike mine which are curly and don’t need to be curled..you can curl your lashes with a curler before you apply these steps if you find success with this. Now you may be wondering what are eyelash fibers. The Divaderm Eyelashes Fibers are a little tube of particles/fibers NOT LIQUIDS that stick to your mascara and help make your lashes more long and thick. HONESTLY I do not know what I would do without it. LOVE

The Tea Tree Miracle

By: Andrea

Why we LOVE Tea Tree Oil... (and why we think you will too)
Hey Guys! I figured I would devote our first post in the "Acne SOS" section to one of the products I could absolutely not live with out. The answer: Desert Essence 100% Tea Tree Oil. Vanessa and I both use this product whenever we feel a breakout brewing and have seen huge improvements when it comes to the lifespan of nasty pimples.

Tea tree oil is a great natural alternative to other chemical-based breakout treatment products available on the market today.I was introduced to tea tree oil on set a few years ago and I can absolutely say that it has made a huge difference when dealing with those frustrating zits that quite simply make you want to cry. One makeup artist referred to the process of applying tea tree as "calming the storm," and I think she is right :)

Since I was a teenager I have suffered from the occasional under-the-skin pimple... You know the ones that feel like a volcanic eruption is brewing beneath the skin?! Tea tree oil comes in different strengths, and for the most effective results, I recommend using 100% tea tree as SPOT TREATMENT ONLY! I suggest dabbing the oil onto the affected area with a Q-tip and then leaving it to dry (I generally do this at night before bed). The oil will dry out the bump quickly. Generally I find that if I use the oil 3 nights in a row, the volcanic eruption has completely subsided, allowing my skin to return to its normal state. Do be aware that the application process can sometimes sting a little. Just know that the sting means the oil is doing its job!

Desert Essence 100% Organic Tea Tree Oil comes in a very tiny bottle. It can be a bit on the pricy side but you can always find the product at a discounted rate online (I love the product so much I will link it on the side bar)

99 Cent Scents

By: Andrea

Hey lovelies! Ok so, I am totally obsessed with scented candles! I picked up a bunch last year at one of the 99 Cent stores in LA and just HAD to make another stop to pick up some more. As you can see, I am now stocked up! These things are fantastic! I particularly love the cake and green apple ones. In the past year I have used them for dinner parties, yoga and meditation sessions, and to help relax when taking bubble baths. Whenever I light these babies at my condo, friends always take note of the amazing scent (the I secretly smile to myself knowing I only paid 99 cents per candle).
